So, I should replace the spring retainers, or re-use them?

And, with compressing the spring, I have heard of 2 different tools, but one requires the removal of the head from the block. Is it possible to do this switch with just compressing air into the cylinder to hold the valves in?

And the camshaft is a stage 2. I don't know how crucial it will be to get an aftermarket cam gear, I don't even know how to adjust it. I understand the theory behind it, but I don't know the specific steps to line it up with.

You can use your stock retainers.

Keep the spark plug in and it will prevent the valves from falling into your combustion chamber.

RPW recommends using aftermarket cam gear, but from what I've seen, there is very little adjustment so you might be able to get away with using your stock cam gear.
