FUEL PUMP - 2007/03/09 11:30 Please help me. I installed the new walbro fuel pump, following step by step the directions on Tearstone's installation information. I got the assembly out, switched fuel pumps, installed correctly, and then.... Started it up. It started up like a charm. It ran for like a minute, and at first I could hear the fuel pump running. Then the pump stopped and like 30 sec later, the car died. I took out the assembly like 3 more times to check to make sure all the connections were on there correctly and it was. I don't know what to do. The pump worked, then stopped working. After it started the first time, there was pressure in the fuel lines, but the times following there was none. This leads me to believe it worked and then stopped working all of the sudden. I focused on electrical and seating problems, but nothing....I checked every single fuse in the car, and one was blown in the engine compartment. I changed it out, and nothing happened. The car turns over well, but no fuel/pressure. Please help me!!! please!

Did you try putting the stock fuel pump back in?

Re:FUEL PUMP - 2007/03/10 01:56 Well, I had to modify the sock to get the new walbro to fit right. Now I can't go back without buying a new sock. I just hooked direct power to the pump, and its dead. It makes a click sould, like its trying to work, but soulds like its jammed or something. I am going to pull it out, and see if I can get it to work out of the car, and if it runs, I will try putting it back in, if I doesn't I am going to go to a local speed shop and buy another fuel pump.

You can still reinstall the stock fuel pump even after the sock modification. I just want to know of the stock fuel pump works so you can isolate rather it is the fuel pump or another electrical related problem. With this method it is cheaper to test the stock pump to see if you have a bad walboro then potentially buying another new pump and finding out that it was not the pump, you know?

Re:FUEL PUMP - 2007/03/10 04:07 I took out the walbro, and hooked it up to a direct power source, to ensure that there was no other electrical problem causing this. It didn't work, it clicks and sounds like it is bound up inside. Just to ensure that this was a valid testing method, I hooked up the stock fuel pump, and it spins beautifully. It is official, I have a crap walbro fuel pump. Russ, would you please PM me, and hopefully we can work out the DOA fuel pump? Thanks. OH, and I used a voltohmmeter and made sure that there was electricity to the fuel pump, there was. It was like 11.5 volts though... I though it was supposed to be 12? Maby thats just before you get the car running... I dunno.

Re:FUEL PUMP - 2007/03/12 08:42 I mailed the fuel pump off early this morning, Priority. So it shouldn't take that long for you guys to get it. Hopefully you guys will get the fuel rail adapters in, and I can get them both at the same time. Thanks guys.

I installed the stock one back in on Sunday, I got a new fuel pickup sock from Advanced for like 10$. Not too bad, probably won't hurt to have a new one anyway. I'll just trim this one down once I get the new fuel pump in.

The quickest way to test to see if the fuel pump works or not, is to just hook up wires to your car battery to pull a 12v draw onto the terminals of the fuel pump. If it doesn't do anything then it is bad. If it spins up and vibrates than it's still good. If yours is bad, just ship it back to us and we'll send you out a new one no problems. In light of some of the reports of these bad fuel pumps we test all of them before they go out now.

Re:FUEL PUMP - 2007/07/17 03:06 ok... i know this sounds weird but i hooked up the old fuel pump to a gas container to see if it pumps after i hooked it up to the battery and stuff... the old pne vibrates and makes the noise so its good. the new one vibrates and makes the noise but it doesnt suck any gas like the other one so i guess the little motor inside works fine but it just doesnt pump any gas or sucks it. ... i know its confusing.... so im sending my new one tomorrow afternoon.

We have plenty of fuel pumps to send back out. We just received one today from another customer.

Re:FUEL PUMP - 2007/07/23 00:39 wow walboro just sent you guys a lot of defective ones... that sucks but its ok, not in a hurry... ama get the cams and cam gears and F/I valve springs in like 2 weeks from you guys... do i need stronger valves, ok... this is what i have, im lmost done just waiting for parts to get shipped, but fully built bottom end, port and polish heads, ill have cams and gears and valves also, my question is... do i need new valves too? if so where can i find them, also, having all that stuff for the top end, do i need somethign else or i would have a fully built top end also able to handle lots of psi? whats safe psi on a fully built 6g72?

The stock valves will be fine, but if you want after market ones made we can arrange something. We can actually build an entire head package for you. Just email me at rsanderlin@tearstone.com for a quote. Max psi at the point you have a built engine is more concurrent to how efficient your engine is and your turbo sizing. So, what I'm trying to say is that it's a vague question. In terms of horsepower, just a stock engine with forged pistons should go to 400whp with no problems, Stock rods are good for 500whp if you could flow that through a stock cam. With cams then you would essentially be pushing a record for how much horsepower you can make out a 6G72

If they ask you to put down a credit card, it's more like a "club" membership your paying dues to give you perceived discounts while you pay to put company logos on your car... it's quite the racket.

The fastest car went 11 seconds, I'm not so sure about the highest horsepower although I know what these engines are capable of if you have the mullah.

He did that on street tires.

But yes you will pop the CV joint on your axles. We can get you upgraded axles, like the ones shep uses on his Eclipses and sells.
