Mitsubishi: SE trim added for 2008 Eclipse PDF Print E-mail

blogicon_4g_eclipse.jpgWe are always excited when manufacturers make updates to the cars that we love so much. The 2008 Mitsubishi Eclipse gets some new body modifications, standard enhanced interior options, but nothing under the hood. This updated trim level "SE" will be added to both 4 cylinder and 6 cylinder models.

The 2008 Eclipse SE now comes with a sleek Evo style wing, new front chin spoiler, "SE" graphic down the side skirt, and now a aluminum fuel door standard. Included in these new enhancements is the optional packages which used to be offered on both GS and GT are now standard in the SE trim; 650-watt Rockford Fosgate sound system, leather seats and a power moonroof,  The V6 still retains it's TCL feature advantage over the 4cyl version of the SE. Mitsubishi did this with the 3rd Generation Eclipse in 2003 when they took the top option package of the GT and offered it as a new "GTS" trim with some small engine improvements.

The added rear wing is remeniscent of a late model Cougar and the hatch should have been redesigned to clean up the look of what was thought of to be a stock lip spoiler which connected the tail lights. The stickers down the side skirts may add a bit of sporty appeal to anyone who's a fan of cars from the 90s, doesn't bode well for a clean look. The chin spoiler is a nice welcome addition to the available options that existing Eclipse owners can sink their teeth into retrofitting onto their vehicles.

While we have eagerly awaited a new trim of the Eclipse to include at the very least a turbo addition or perhaps even AWD, we are still left holding out from the tease Mitsubishi gave us with their Ralliart Eclipse. But we are still crossing our fingers that someday Mitsubishi will restore faith in ex-DSMers everywhere by coming out with a GS-X or maybe even a GT-X Laughing

Looking at the third picture down ( the rear), the badge shows "GT V6" -- Does the SE not come with an "SE" or "SE-V6" badge on the back?
